Made on Darby is a collective of local makers based in Newcastle, bringing together a range of creative practices under one roof. I developed the brand identity to reflect the creativity of the makers while remaining contemporary and considered.
A modern linear typeface used creates a polished foundation, with contrasting italic and regular letterforms giving the logo its distinctive character. The italic ‘m’ becomes a fluid graphic device, creating cohesion across the identity and collateral. The coastal-inspired palette of cream, soft blue and brown is paired with vibrant pink and orange accents to reflect the colour and creativity of the makers.
I also worked on the naming development, with ‘made’ reflecting the collective nature of the space, whilst calling out the iconic Newcastle location and creating a shorthand for people to know where to shop.
